About Mahu
Healing for your being through spoken word and sound.
Mahu is a Māori word meaning 'to be healed'.
Mahu was birthed from my own healing journey.
My vision:
To support healing in a way that touches every part of our being; physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. I hold the intention that this healing moves beyond the individual, gently rippling out into the world for the benefit of all beings and the Earth.
My mission:
Through Sound Healing, Reiki and Circle Facilitation I aim to help people to connect deeply to themselves, others and our shared existence on this beautiful planet.

About Me

My Story
My work is rooted in listening — to sound, to nature, to stone, and to the quiet wisdom within ourselves.
Hi I'm Fay and I'm so pleased you're here. A little about me;
I uphold my core values — honesty, integrity, and consistency in all areas of my life — and this is hugely important to me.
I am also one of those people who has lived many lives in one.
When I look back, what stands out most clearly in my memory is the sound of those lives, and a deep desire to make a difference in our world.
As a child, I would soothe myself by playing a tune I’d made up on the brass handles of my grandmother's chest of drawers. Later, I remember lying on my bed, listening to the Blackbird singing in the tree outside my window. I recall the songs my grandmother would sing to me — how they made me feel nurtured and loved.
In my thirties, it was the mesmerising song of the Tui that called me to move to New Zealand, searching for who I truly was beneath the pain and trauma of childhood.
That same longing to make a difference — to bring healing to a world that felt so wrong — led me to work with animals at Auckland Zoo. I still remember the haunting call of the Siamang Gibbons, and how it stirred something deep within me. It awakened a fierce love for the natural world and a desire to protect it.
It was also while living in New Zealand that I first felt the pull toward working with stone. I was deeply inspired by the beauty and spirit of Māori carving, and something about the material itself called to me. I love the feel of stone — its weight, its texture, its ancient presence. When I carve, it is not so much about creating a particular object, but about responding to the stone itself and allowing the form to emerge through touch and feeling. It is a quiet, grounding practice that connects me deeply to the earth.
That passion for the natural world has never left me. When I reflect on these moments, I see now that sound and a desire to help have always been the threads weaving the story of my life together.
It was during my recovery from brain surgery that I realised isolation can be a big factor in brain injury. I knew then that I wanted to find a way to help others move through their own recovery — whether from brain trauma or other challenges — and the idea of offering Circles was seeded.
Around this time I also discovered that Sound Healing was a recognised practice. Reading about the science behind it confirmed what I had always felt and known in my bones. This discovery led me to study and embrace both Sound Healing and Reiki, first for my own healing and then to help others find theirs.
I now hold a Diploma in Integral Sound Healing, am trained in Reiki, and have CPD Accreditation in Circle Facilitation.
It feels as though all the sounds I’ve ever followed, the challenges I have faced, and the dreams of helping others have gently led me here.
What I’ve come to understand is that healing our world doesn’t mean doing it all on our own. It begins within each of us — and this is where I can help.
I sometimes share this creative practice on my stone carving Instagram, if you’d like to see the pieces that emerge from the stone.
If what I offer feels right for you but finances are a barrier please do get in touch. I do offer a few treatments every month at a discounted rate.
